These, now rare, intaglios were used with sealing wax to seal correspondence. They are often very whimsical while being functional. Due to their size variations each mount has to be hand carved in wax and then cast to suit that specific intaglio. The 14k rose gold is framed nicely in its 14k white gold mount. Very heavy yet comfortable ring.
