Hand engraved clear crystal 18th century original Georgian (as in George the third or fourth) intaglio. . These, now rare, intaglios were used with sealing wax to seal correspondence. They are often very whimsical while being functional. Due to their size variations each mount has to be hand carved in wax and then cast to suit that specific intaglio. The image depicted is a puzzle composed of five symbols; that when deciphered will yield a phrase that expresses the sentiment of the user. This seal is mounted in 14k white gold, and is awaiting someone who can figure out what it says.

A large (14x17mm.) original oval intaglio seal of the Roman era, ca. 200 AD, bezel set in a hand cast 14k white gold mount. The immaculate satin finished onyx intaglio image is the profile of the goddess Prosepone; the symbol of womanly virtue. These stones were symbols of affluence and authority since the rise of civilization in the fertile crescent and were used well into the first half of the 20th century.
